Nunungan,
Lanao del Norte- Municipal Mayor Marcos Mamay vowed to stop family feud locally
known as “Rido” in this interior municipality being tagged as the rido capital
of Lanao del Norte.
Congressman
Abdullah “Bobby” Dimaporo said in one of his speeches that “Nunungan is the
Rido capital of Lanao del Norte”.
Mamay
said, it is the responsibility of the local chief executive to settle family
feuds in his municipality. He disclosed that his predecessors failed to settle
rido because they have also family feuds with his constituents.
It
can be recalled that 13 were killed
and several others were wounded, including the incumbent mayor of Nunungan
town, Lanao del Norte in an ambushed weeks before 2013 election.
Manamparan is
standing for the lower post of vice-mayor, with his son and namesake running
for mayor. The candidate son was not among the casualties.
The
neophyte politician runs for mayor because of his personal advocacies and saw
the need of the people that they have been clamoring for real change for very
long years.
“The people want change and they want to
experience peace and development as they were deprived of all types of
developments for more than three decades”, Mayor Mamay said.
The
biggest achievement of Mayor Mamay in the settlement of rido in Nunungan is the
Cawasa and Mamay families, where both families are his relatives.
“I
really have to look for a solution because I was affected as they are my
relatives, and many lives were lost such as barangay captain, municipal
councilor, vice mayor and other local officials” he said.
Mayor
Mamay expressed his thanks and gratitude to the national government
particularly Malacanang, the Philippine National Police (PNP) of Camp Crame and
the administration of former Governor and concurrent Congressman Khalid
Dimaporo for the action taken that resulted to the settlement of this family
feud.
The
businessman turned politician, revealed to reporters that he will pour in
developments in which his predecessors deprived the people of Nunungan from all
type of developments.
“
I believe in the statement of Mahatma Ghandi that “Development is the language
of Peace”. There is no Peace when there is no Development and there is no
Development when there is no Peace”, he said
He
said his constituents suffered and deprived so much of basic services and
developments. He said, if he provided them the assistance when he was not yet
in power how much more that he is now the mayor of Nunungan and they must
expect massive development.
“One of my top priorities in the municipality
of Nunungan is the road network where an Invitation to Bid (ITB) is already
posted and ready for a pre- bidding implementation of a P900 million road
construction project for a national road that connects Sapad to Nunungan and
Nunungan to Sultan Naga Dimaporo (SND) which he requested from the Office of
the President in Malacanang through the Department of Public Works and Highways
(DPWH)’ he said.
“I
have four (4) priorities in my administration to zero in and to address the
pressing living condition of my constituents in Nunungan and these are Education; Infrastructure; Road
Concreting and Livelihood Programs.
“
I believe once these plans and program are sensibly implemented, other
developments will follow. If roads and infrastructures are developed, these
will contribute to the economic activities of the town helping people with
their livelihood.
“Education
is a non-negotiable priority and education must go along hand -in-hand with
progress”, said the Misamis Oriental Parents –Teacher Association President.
“We
all know that youth is the hope of tomorrow and we look into the promotion and
upkeep of tourism, trade and commerce and peace and order in Nunungan”, he
said.
Mayor

can expect from what he had said, “Change is coming in Nunungan under my
administration”.
